Install Failure during Select and Install Software
I'm doing a fresh 32-bit install but it seems to be failing during the Select and Install Software step.
Specifically, the failure occurs when unpacking "gir1.2-harfbuzz-0.0".
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I watched the failure again a little more closely. It appears to occur after the unpacking during "Cleaning up" instead.
I am doing a 32-bits installation myself right now, see if I can reproduce your problem. Please wait for me to finish this as I am also experimenting with other things. It might be that the things I changed don't work and then you waste your time.
It failed to download a package called groff_base. I will try again tomorrow. You will not be able to install MintPPC now.
It should work now, please read the installation instructions.
Same basic procedure just with a new preseed file? I just want to make sure that I'm not missing anything.
Thank you so much for your help!
I'm glad to see you added a Donate button, too!
The procedure is almost the same. I changed the preseed file a little. One does not need to export the $PATH anymore, this is done automatically. Installation of debian-system-adjustments needs to be done manually, it can't be done during installation. You don't need to download and burn another iso, this has not changed.
After a few retries to complete the Select and Install Software part of the install, I'm at last running MintPPC on an iMac G4!
At the end of the install, I did receive the attached error but it doesn't seem to have been fatal. Do I need to complete any additional steps to compensate for this error?
Congratulations, you did it! You can disregard that error message, it works after you boot into the system. Enjoy MintPPC.
