Since a couple of weeks I have been experimenting with the new packages which are available in the ‘alfa’ repository of Linux Mint. These packages are meant to be installed in the upcoming Linux Mint 23 ‘alfa’ edition. To see what is new look here and here.
I ported those packages to Debian. To make that work, many packages which are in Debian unstable had to be backported to stable Debian Trixie. The packages are now stable and I made an installer iso to install Linux Mint Debian Edition Gigi based on ‘alfa’, which will be released around December 2026 according to Linux Mint. For those of you who like to try the latest unstable LMDE 7, can email me. This iso will form the basis for the upcoming LMDE 7 Gigi arm64 release, somewhere around December 2026. This release is based on a Debian Trixie base which is partly converted to Forky.
