This website offers installer images which install Linux Mint arm64 Edition. The image can be used in a virtual machine like Parallels, QEMU or UTM on Apple Silicon, or can be used to install Linux Mint bare metal on arm64 based computers like Raspberry Pi or Qualcomm Snapdragon laptops. The good thing about this version of Linux Mint (as opposed to the official x86-64 one offered by the Linux Mint Team) is that it has full support for the arm64 architecture, as found in Apple Silicon for example. Running such a system in a virtual machine on Apple Silicon is very fast, almost as fast as bare metal. It has to be noted that this is an UNOFFICIAL Linux Mint distribution for arm64. It was created by Jeroen Diederen and no support can be expected from the Linux Mint team.

The latest distribution of Linux Mint is Linux Mint Debian Edition 7 arm64. The base is Debian Trixie. For sale is also LMDE 6 arm64, also based on Debian Trixie.

Have a look here to see how LMDE 7 is installed in UTM, it couldn’t be much easier.

The Mint packages will be updated regularly when new packages are published in the x86-64 version. The package management goes automatically as the packages are held on a personal web server which will be installed by upgrading the system. Trixie has now been officially released, so security updates will continue for many years. It can therefore be said that this distribution has many years to go.
